Everything you need to install, configure, and get the most out of StockMap on your Shopify store.
Getting Started
Up and running in under 5 minutes — no coding required.
1
Install StockMap from the Shopify App Store
Click Install on the StockMap listing. Approve the requested permissions — we only ask for what we actually need. You'll be redirected to the StockMap dashboard inside your Shopify admin.
2
Sync your Shopify locations
Go to the Locations tab and click Sync from Shopify. All your store locations are imported automatically. Enable the ones you want to display in the widget.
3
Configure the inventory widget
Open Widget Settings to choose a display mode (List, Table, or Compact), set your brand colors, and customize stock labels. Changes preview instantly.
4
Enable the widget in your Shopify theme
In your Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → Customize. Navigate to a product page template, click Add block, and select Multi-Location Inventory. Save — the widget is now live on all product pages.
StockMap uses Shopify's native App Embed — it does not modify your theme code. You can remove or reposition the block at any time from the theme editor.
Locations
Control which stores appear in the widget and how they're sorted.
Sync from Shopify
Pulls the latest locations from your Shopify account. Run this after adding or renaming a store location in Shopify.
Enable / Disable
Toggle individual locations on or off. Disabled locations are never shown in the widget, even if they have stock.
Display name
Override the Shopify location name with a customer-friendly label (e.g. "Downtown Flagship" instead of "NYC Warehouse #2").
Drag to reorder
Set the default display order by dragging location rows. This order is used unless geolocation sorting overrides it (Pro+).
Set coordinates
Pro
Enter latitude and longitude for each location to enable geolocation-based "Find Nearest Store" sorting. The widget sorts locations by distance from the shopper's browser location.
Plan limit: The number of locations visible in the widget depends on your plan (Starter: 1, Basic: 2, Pro: 5, Enterprise: 10+). You can have more locations synced than your plan limit — only the top enabled ones show in the widget.
Widget Settings
Control how the inventory widget looks and behaves on your product pages.
Display mode
List — one location per row with name and status. Table — grid view with columns for location, quantity, and status. Compact — condensed single-line per location, ideal for tight layouts.
Colors & appearance
Basic+
Set the widget accent color, background, and border radius to match your store's branding. Changes preview live in the dashboard.
Stock labels
Basic+
Replace the default "In Stock / Low Stock / Out of Stock" with any custom text — e.g. "Available", "Only a Few Left", "Currently Unavailable".
Low stock threshold
Set the quantity below which a location shows as Low Stock instead of In Stock. Default is 5 units.
Show quantity numbers
Toggle whether exact stock counts ("24 left") are shown alongside the status label. Useful if you prefer to hide specific quantities from customers.
Hide out-of-stock
When enabled, locations with zero stock are hidden from the widget entirely. Customers only see locations that can fulfill their order.
Geolocation sort
Pro+
Shows a "Find Nearest Store" button in the widget. When clicked, the browser requests the customer's location and re-sorts locations by distance. Requires coordinates set on each location.
B2B restrictions
Enterprise
Restrict widget visibility to customers with specific Shopify customer tags. Useful for wholesale stores that want to show inventory only to logged-in B2B buyers.
Back-in-Stock Alerts
Enterprise Plan
Let customers subscribe to restock notifications per product, variant, and location.
1
Connect an email gateway
Go to Back-in-Stock → Email Gateway and enter your SMTP credentials or API key for Mailgun or SendGrid. This is the service that sends the alert emails to customers.
2
Customize your email template
Open Back-in-Stock → Email Template to set the subject line, from name, and email body. Use merge tags like {{product_name}}, {{location_name}}, and {{product_url}} to personalize each alert.
3
Enable the notification button in your theme
Go to Back-in-Stock → Notification Button and copy the embed snippet, or enable the app block from your Shopify theme editor. A "Notify Me" button appears next to out-of-stock locations in the widget.
4
Alerts fire automatically
When inventory at a subscribed location goes from 0 to any positive quantity (via a sale, fulfillment, or manual update), StockMap detects the change via Shopify webhook and sends the alert email automatically — no manual action needed.
View subscribers
The Back-in-Stock tab lists all active subscriptions. Each row shows the customer email, product, variant, location, and subscription date.
Manual send
You can manually trigger an alert for a specific product/location combination from the subscriber list — useful for testing or sending a one-off restock notification.
Unsubscribe
Customers receive an unsubscribe link in every alert email. You can also manually remove a subscriber from the dashboard.

Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them.
The widget is not showing on product pages
Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, navigate to a product page template, and confirm the Multi-Location Inventory block has been added and is visible. Make sure you have at least one location enabled in the Locations tab.
Inventory counts look outdated
Inventory is cached for up to 5 minutes. It also refreshes automatically via Shopify webhooks when a sale, refund, or fulfillment changes stock levels. If counts still look wrong after a few minutes, try clicking Sync from Shopify on the Locations tab.
Only 1 location is showing even though I have more enabled
Your current plan determines how many locations appear in the widget. The Starter plan shows 1 location, Basic shows 2, Pro shows 5, and Enterprise shows 10+. Upgrade your plan from the Plans & Pricing tab to display more locations.
"Find Nearest Store" button is not working
This feature requires the Pro plan and coordinates set on each location. Make sure: (1) you're on Pro or Enterprise, (2) latitude and longitude are entered for every enabled location in the Locations tab, and (3) the customer's browser has location access granted — browsers require HTTPS and user permission.
Back-in-stock emails are not being sent
Check Back-in-Stock → Email Gateway and confirm your SMTP/API credentials are correct. Send a test email from the gateway settings page. If delivery still fails, verify that your sending domain is authorized and not on any spam blocklists.
The widget shows but inventory is all "Out of Stock" for every location
This can happen if the app's Shopify access token has expired. Open the StockMap app from your Shopify admin to trigger a session refresh. If the issue persists, reinstall the app — your settings and subscriber data are preserved in our database.
